Currently over 250,000 people suffer with CRPS/RSD and approximately 90,000 new cases per year are diagnosed. CuraLase approaches CRPS/RSD by conducting a careful screening interview with a qualified practitioner. The screening will determine the correct protocol for patient care. This is an important step in making sure that the patient does not have an acute problem requiring urgent medical attention.
Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) or (RSD) is a neurological disorder that always starts with an injury. The injury may be as small as a paper cut or a significant injury. The injury normally heals well, but severe neurological pain remains. The pain is most commonly in the arm region and can be accompanied by Raynaud’s Syndrome.
Patients often experience pain relief starting in the first week of treatment.
Symptoms of CRPS / RSD:
• Nerve pain in the arms or legs
• Pain can be severe
• Loss of muscle or strength
• May experience pins and needles, tingling and burning
• May cause headaches and depression
